Independence does not mean doing everything alone. It means having the skills, confidence, and support to make choices and participate in everyday life on your own terms.
That is where 1:1 NDIS support makes a real difference.
At Loving Life Support Services, our 1:1 NDIS support across the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast focuses on building practical life skills in real environments. We do not just assist. We teach, guide, and build genuine capability over time.
What is 1:1 NDIS support?
1:1 NDIS support means a participant is matched with one dedicated support worker who focuses entirely on their individual needs, preferences, and goals.
Support can take place at home, in the community, during appointments, while learning daily living skills, or during community participation activities. It is the most personalised form of NDIS support available, and for many participants it is the foundation everything else is built on.
How 1:1 support builds real independence
Well-delivered 1:1 NDIS support is structured and intentional. It is not just supervision.
Participants can build skills including cooking, cleaning, and household organisation, budgeting and managing money, using public transport safely and confidently, ordering food and communicating in public settings, regulating emotions in real-world environments, developing routines that support long-term independence, and practising decision-making in supported settings.
Progress happens at the participant's pace, with the right level of guidance at each step. The goal is always the same: increase independence over time, not maintain reliance on support.
Why some participants thrive in 1:1 support
While group programs are valuable for many participants, 1:1 support is often the best fit for those who feel overwhelmed in group environments, require higher levels of prompting, need support with emotional regulation, prefer quieter and more structured settings, or are building readiness for small group participation over time.
For some participants, 1:1 support acts as a stepping stone toward group programs. For others, it remains the most appropriate long-term option. Both are completely valid pathways, and the right one depends entirely on the individual.
How we deliver 1:1 support on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast
At Loving Life, 1:1 support is tailored to the individual from the start.
We focus on matching participants with consistent, suitable support workers based on personality, interests, and communication style rather than just availability. You can read more about how we approach finding the right support worker and why that matching process matters so much.
From there, we embed skill-building into everyday activities, use clear communication and step-by-step guidance, create predictable routines that reduce anxiety and support learning, and encourage independence without pressure or rushing.
It is not about doing tasks for someone. It is about building the confidence and capability to do them independently.
1:1 support as part of a bigger plan
For many participants, 1:1 support forms the foundation of a broader support pathway.
It can prepare someone for small group programs, build confidence before entering new environments, strengthen life skills needed for greater autonomy, and support key transitions into adulthood. For school leavers, it often works alongside SLES or capacity building supports as part of a well-rounded plan.
When delivered consistently and intentionally, 1:1 support creates measurable, meaningful growth.
