ThunderBolts: An NDIS Social Group for Young Adults on the Sunshine Coast
ThunderBolts is a fortnightly NDIS social group on the Sunshine Coast for young adults who want to get out, make friends and build confidence in the community.
It is a relaxed, inclusive group where young people try new things together, with experienced support workers close by and plenty of laughs along the way.
What Is ThunderBolts?
ThunderBolts is an NDIS funded community access group on the Sunshine Coast. Every second Friday, the group heads out together to explore local spaces, try new activities and practise everyday social skills in real settings.
The group plans its outings as a team, so participants have a real say in where they go and what they do.
What Happens at ThunderBolts?
A typical session might include:
Café catch-ups and beach walks
Games and group challenges
Creative, social and outdoor activities
Exploring local community spaces around the Sunshine Coast
Planning the next outing together
Every session is built around connection, participation and having a good time, while quietly building the skills that make community life easier.
Who Is ThunderBolts For?

Want to make friends with peers who get them
Would rather be out in the community than at home

Why Community Access Works
Social skills grow best where they are actually used. Ordering at a café, catching up with friends and planning a day out are real skills, and ThunderBolts gives young adults regular, supported chances to practise them.
Because the group meets regularly with familiar faces, many participants find it easier to settle in, speak up and take on new challenges over time.
